Will started off in the private sector as an architect but has since moved to the NHS mainly in the management and delivery of complex capital programmes. He is the estates lead for the Hospital Transformation Programme at SaTH.
Will also has in interest in sustainability and completed PhD research on the topic in 2000.
During summer 2020 he was been instrumental in securing £5.7M central funding for Critical Infrastructure as well as another £12.9M for various estate capacity enhancements. All projects to be completed by March 2021.
During Covid, he is lead on ventilation enhancements, oxygen supply assurance, and estates adaptations to prevent contact and spread of infection as well as the overall estates response.
Will believes that the Covid pandemic has highlighted the vital role of the environment and engineering infrastructure required to deliver safe care for patients and enabling the delivery of vital health services. He also believes in the vital role of collaboration and teamwork between estates professionals in the NHS.
